PAG – IRIRIMAW 2011
Every year the University Student Council (USC) holds the festive University Acquaintance or known as Pag – iririmaw. With the theme, “Rio Carnival”, the high schools were given the Under the Sea basis.
With Angelica Fabiana as the Chairperson in this activity, together with the help of all the high school students, the ILS (secondary) community united in a bond that no one could ever break. It was then that all of us were helping each other in preparing the costumes, practicing for our mass dance contest and bonding as a family even for just a speck of time.
As for the talents that represented the high school students, Salve Marie Gumban from the juniors and Dax Gabriel Celis fought their way in the search for Mr. and Ms. Pag – iririmaw ’11. Eventually they didn’t bag the said contest but, we are still proud of them.
Days before the most awaited event, the selected high school students from the freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors were practicing for the mass dance contest with our trainer Fritz, a student from PESCAR.
For almost 1 and half day, we made everything possible. With team work, cooperation and the willingness to have fun and enjoy every moment, we lend our time and efforts in making this event worthwhile.
As the day we most awaited for came, we changed into our costumes made by the other high school students themselves and wished ourselves luck. We were the first performers. As we enter the grounds, we were all feeling nervous, but we thought, this is our time, this is our moment, and it is now or never. We have to show them what we are capable of and we can stand and prove to them that we are the ILS students of West Visayas State University.
As we danced, smiled, and unleashed everything we’ve got, they were awed by our performance and were amazed on how the high school community progressed in the contest, for we were always the underdogs. But we were here to have fun and unite as one. Win or lose, we are still winners for we won another medal; the medal of friendship.
